At a press conference, the Governor of Quintana Roo said “First, the renovation of Colosio Boulevard, an extremely necessary work, an access road to the city where more than 70 thousand vehicles pass daily, which means the departure of many Quintana Roo residents to their jobs in different hotels in the Riviera Maya”.
The work on the Luis Donaldo Colosio Boulevard will consist of the modernization of 11 kilometers, which will include the improvement of bays for public urban transportation, bus stops, and lighting.
“It also means the arrival of many visitors and tourists arriving from the airport to the city, or going between the city of Cancun and the Riviera Maya, that is an area, a road of great tourist affluence and of great importance for the inhabitants of Cancun”.
The extension of Chacmol Avenue will be added to this project. “The extension of Chacmol Avenue will provide an alternate access road to this area through Guayacan Avenue, which will allow an even greater flow of vehicular traffic to the Cancun area and the airport”.
The construction of Chac Mool Avenue will be 1.5 kilometers north of the airport junction.
The governor stated that these are works that go hand in hand with the construction of the Nichupte lagoon bridge, a work that for many years has been a request of the people of Cancun.

That represents a great investment, a great access road to the hotel zone and from the hotel zone to downtown Cancun and that I must mention some things that are very important:
The bridge will measure 8.4 kilometers over water and about 5 kilometers more towards the junction with Colosio Boulevard. Will allow not only a matter of infrastructure and agility for vehicular traffic, but also for the civil protection of Cancun and its hotel zone.
The governor affirmed that “the project does not generate environmental impacts on the protected natural area, it totally spares it, the Nichupté Mangroves, it does not touch them, and the regional environmental system”.
This entire project also considers the growth of the natural protected area of El Jaguar Park in Tulum, “which will surely serve for the enjoyment of visitors, tourists, which will give strength to the image of Tulum, to the visitors, to the tourists we have there. It will also help urban development to be much more orderly,” said Carlos Joaquín Gonzalez.
In this way, he added, “the entrance to the archaeological zone will be much better, through environmental spaces, sites that will allow a much more dignified and adequate way to reach this wonderful archaeological zone that we have, and that will increase by more than 300 hectares the number we already have in the Tulum National Park, and also add even more than a thousand hectares in other sites, where for example the airport was going to be built before and where it will no longer be built. So this will undoubtedly be very important”.
In a conclusion, Quintana Roo keeps evolving, and it seems that it would not take long until it becomes one of the most modern touristic destinations in the world.
