As a real estate agent here in Playa del Carmen, I have the occasion to view many different and spectacular residences here in my fair city.  This last weekend, I had the opportunity to experience what I now recognize to be one of the preeminent luxury condominium projects in the entire area.  The Fives, Playa del Carmen is a unique development among all the developments here in Playa as a true condo-resort project.

The Fives – Playa del Carmen

I was given a personal invitation to come experience what The Fives has to offer by the Director of Sales.  I had not been there before and truthfully, it hadn’t really been on my radar as far as an option for my clients – this oversight was simply because I didn’t really know what The Fives was all about.

First of all – The Fives, Playa del Carmen is NOT a timeshare. 

I had it in my mind it was some sort of fractional ownership place.  I couldn’t have been further from the truth.

So if it’s not timeshare or fractional ownership, exactly what is it?  It is a condo resort development that reminds me in many ways of the condo hotel projects in Las Vegas such as The Palms.  You absolutely own your physical unit with a full deed and title but with the option to put it in the rental pool, where the full 5 Star resort handles all the room bookings and everything else through their resort management,

Your other option is to live in the unit – either part time or full time and enjoy all the luxuries that are associated with staying at an All-Inclusive 5 Star Resort.  Some people opt to come to Playa del Carmen and use their unit for a couple weeks an year and put it in the rental pool for the remainder of the time, while there are several owners who live in their units year round.  The flexibility lets you tailor your ownership to suit you.

I’m not going to get deep into the details of their program or the prices in this article – feel free to contact me and I can give you the exact details.  Suffice it to say that there is nothing like this in town.

The Fives, Playa del Carmen – the experience

What I mentioned above is one of the main things that separate The Fives from any other property in town.  The second thing that truly sets them apart in the filed of residential real estate is the service.  The level of personal service here is impeccable! From the minute that you arrive at the front door, you know that this is a property that earned its 5 Star Rating.

I went with a friend of mine and we were greeted cordially and brought through the registration process for the All- Inclusive Pass.  Everyone we encountered was attentive and professional.  After we got our passes, we were given a quick tour of the facilities and shown where everything was located.  Of course we decided to head straight to the beach club.  🙂

The Fives, Playa del Carmen has something that is fairly unique in that they actually have private beach area. The pool and beach club are situated on the beach and you can move freely between them – whether you are feeling the pull of the Caribbean Sea or hearing the call of a shot of tequila at the swim up bar.

We opted to get a quick bite to eat at the beach club overlooking the ocean and to be absolutely honest, I was somewhat less than impressed by the appearance of the Jamaican style hamburger that I ordered.  It was very plain and uninspiring looking…   until I actually bit into it and the flavor was amazing!  So looks can be deceiving….  Lol.  As with everywhere else here so far, the service was top notch.

After our food, we went directly to the pool and got a round of drinks while sitting at the swim up bar. The pool was big with an infinity edge on the ocean side and two large jacuzzi tubs on the other side.  The view from the pool was amazing as some of the pictures I took will attest.

After a couple of more drinks and laying out, we headed to the beach.  Cool white sand and warm blue water was the order of the day.  We got our beach chairs and spent time playing in the waters of the Caribbean.  It was a very good vibe here…   event the service out to the beach lounges was impeccable.  🙂

And this is where the whole review breaks down…    We had so much fun in the pool and on the beach that before we knew it, the sun was setting and the day was pretty much over.  We were tired from all the sun so we stopped at one of the lounges to refresh a bit.  I regret not spending more time exploring everything else the place had to offer – from the amazing looking restaurants, the world class spa and well equipped gym to the tennis courts and relaxing hammock areas, this resort has everything that you expect in a 5 Star experience.

I will definitely be going back.  I can’t actually move in to The Fives since they wouldn’t allow my pit bull as a resident….  (and I checked)  but given a chance, owning in this project would be an experience unlike any other.  Imagine having not only the magnificent Caribbean beach withing a short walking distance of your front door, but living day to day life with all the amenities that we are accustomed to only while on vacation!!  I think the service and the pampering could get quite addicting….

I was completely unaware of what The Fives was all about.  But now, having both educated myself and experienced what a company with over 40 years in the luxury resort business can put together, I will recommend this property to my pickiest clients – and do it without hesitation.

If you want to buy true real estate in Playa del Carmen while still having every whim catered to, this is not only your best option, it’s your only option.  Nobody else has combined the two so effortlessly.
